Duluth Curling Club Membership Code of Conduct
As a member of the Duluth Curling Club (DCC), you are part of a community dedicated to the sport of curling and the spirit of curling, including the values of sportsmanship, camaraderie, and mutual respect. This Code of Conduct outlines the expectations for all DCC members and their guests to ensure a positive and respectful environment for everyone.
1. Respect for the Club
- Members are expected to take pride in the Duluth Curling Club, maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the facility.
- Property damage, vandalism, or any form of abuse of club facilities or equipment is strictly prohibited.
- Members should report any maintenance issues or damages to the DCC General Manager or Curling Manager promptly.
2. Respect for Club Employees
- All club employees are to be treated with respect and courtesy at all times. Discrimination, harassment, or any form of verbal, digital or physical abuse will not be tolerated.
- Members should adhere to any instructions or rules communicated by club staff, as these are in place to ensure safety and smooth operation of the DCC.
- Any concerns or grievances regarding DCC staff should be directed to the DCC management team in person, rather than confronting staff directly. An incident report will be completed.
- Issues with DCC management should be directed to an executive member of the DCC Board of Directors (e.g., President, Vice President, Treasurer or Secretary). An incident report will be completed.
3. Respect for Other Members
- All members are expected to foster an inclusive and supportive environment. Discrimination, harassment, or any form of verbal, digital or physical abuse will not be tolerated.
- Members should engage in sportsmanlike behavior, demonstrating the spirit of curling, including respect for opponents, teammates, and officials during all club activities.
- Constructive feedback and positive communication are always encouraged. Conflicts should be addressed respectfully and privately.
4. Member Responsibility for their Guests
- Members are responsible for the behavior of any guests they bring into the club. Guests must adhere to the same standards of conduct as members.
- Members must ensure that guests are aware of and understand club rules and this Membership Code of Conduct.
- It is the responsibility of the Member to have each of their guests sign a DCC waiver.
- Any incidents involving guests will be the responsibility of the hosting member and may impact their membership status.
5. General Expectations
- Alcohol and substance use should be conducted responsibly and in accordance with club policies and local, state, and federal regulations.
- Members should promote the values and spirit of curling, both within and outside of the club, online and offline, upholding the club’s reputation in the community.
- Compliance with club rules and policies is mandatory.
- Members are encouraged to stay informed about club updates and actively participate in club activities, volunteering activities, and committees/sub-committees.
6. Enforcement and Consequences
- Club management and the DCC board of directors reserves the right to investigate any reported incidents and take appropriate action as necessary to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all.
- Violations of the Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, including suspension or revocation of membership, as follows:
- Offense #1: Lose ice and/or bar privileges for the remainder of the day
- Offense #2: Lose ice and/or bar privileges for one month
- Offense #3: Lose ice and/or bar privileges for the remainder of the season
- Offense #4: Lose membership to the club indefinitely
- The DCC Board of Directors has the right to escalate disciplinary action based on the infringement that has occurred.
- Disciplinary enforcement penalties for Offenses 2, 3, and 4 require a ⅔ confirmation vote by the Board of Directors.
